For every 2JZ application—2JZ-GTE / 2JZ-GE, VVTi + non-VVTi, single turbo, big turbo, E85, high boost, high RPM—ignition “headroom” is what keeps combustion stable when cylinder pressure and mixture density rise. Supra-Works IGN-1A smart coils are built to deliver far more ignition energy and spark duration than typical OEM coil systems, giving you a larger misfire margin under load, cleaner combustion, and more consistent burn when it matters.

Why IGN-1A beats OEM ignition in real electrical terms

OEM coils are designed around stock cylinder pressures, stock dwell limits, factory thermal margins, and long service intervals—not sustained high load with elevated boost and rich fuel. IGN-1A coils increase ignition margin by combining:

• Higher spark energy (~103 mJ) to better ionize the plug gap under high in-cylinder pressure (where “spark blowout” starts showing up).

• Long spark duration (~2.9 ms) to support flame-kernel growth and burn stability (especially with E85, richer mixtures, big cams, and turbulent idle).

• High voltage capability (~40 kV minimum at recommended dwell; up to ~81 kV max no-load) for stronger gap-firing capability when conditions get difficult.

• High current inductive charging (up to ~19 A) with known inductance/resistance so your dwell can be tuned correctly (instead of “guessing” or living on the edge of saturation).

“Smart coil” advantage (simpler + more robust system)

IGN-1A is a true smart inductive coil with an internal igniter (IGBT) module, so the ECU typically provides a logic-level ignition output and the coil handles the high-current switching internally—reducing external igniter complexity and helping keep switching behavior consistent across cylinders.
